Disappointments and depression engulfed another throbbing life.

Karachi: 16 April 2022: This young man known as Sagar took his own life before Sehri. His su¡cide note is nothing short of a cry for help. As per statistics, although women express themselves more emotionally, the su¡cide rate in men is 3-4 times more than that of women. The reason is often suppressed emotions stemming from societal expectation of pseudo-masculinity.
Men are prone to hide emotions, suppress feelings and put a facade on due to the fear of being mocked or deemed weak. I want to let every man out there know that there is NO shame in asking for help. It is OK to cry and to share. Depression is not a gender specific ailment. Your masculinity does not get affected just because you feel emotions. Sagar's tragic demise calls for kindness and emphasis on mental health, especially male mental health! May his soul finally finds the peace he needed.
Between 15 to 35 people end their lives in Pakistan every day. That's as high as one person every hour. The World Health Organisation (WHO) estimated that in 2012, the rate of suicide in Pakistan was 7.5 per 100,000 people. In other words, around 13,000 people killed themselves that year.
