Karachi Polio Worker Shot Dead ahead of Vaccination campaign

KARACHI: 09.10.2025: A frontline polio vaccination worker, identified as Rehmanullah, was shot dead on Thursday in Karachi’s Ahsanabad area, just days before the launch of a nationwide immunisation campaign.
According to the victim’s cousin, Rehmanullah was on his way to duty when unidentified attackers opened fire. His mobile phone, wallet, and motorcycle were left untouched, suggesting it was not a robbery.
Local residents expressed outrage, with a lawyer revealing that this was the second killing in the area within 20 days.
The incident happened just before the October 13–19 national polio campaign, during which over 45.4 million children under five will be vaccinated across Pakistan by 400,000+ health workers.
