SU's Physiology Department organizes sports gala aiming at keeping students healthy

JAMSHORO: 31, MARCH, 2022: (Report By: Ali Murad Chandio): The Department of Physiology and Medical Laboratory Technology, University of Sindh Jamshoro organized a sports gala under the supervision of in-charge of sports in the department Dr. Aftab Khand in which students of the department displayed their talents by participating in various sports.
A wave of happiness could easily be seen on the faces of both male and female students due to playing and enjoying different games. Sports Gala was held at PCB Ground and Haider Bakhsh Jatoi Pavilion wherein cricket and badminton competitions were held in which the teams of students from different batches participated.
Separate competitions were held between the teams of female students who showcased their playing skills in a nice way. The special guest of the Sports Gala was the Chairman of the Department Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Leghari while Dr. Ayaz Samo, Dr. Javed Zai, Dr. Jamshed Warsi, Dr. Zeb Zai and others were also present on the occasion. Later, addressing the closing ceremony, Dr. Zulfiqar Leghari said that sports were necessary to keep the students mentally and physically fit along with seeking education.
He said if the minds of the students were fresh then they would be able to study in a better way; therefore, a sports gala was organized in order to provide a platform to the students to play and have great fun.
He said that 2020 and 2021 had passed in COVID-19, due to which no healthy activity competitions could be held among the students, due to which they were suffering from mental fatigue.
"Their faces lit up with joy after the sports gala was held today in PCB ground and Hyder Bux Jatoi Pavilion", he said.
Dr. Ayaz Samo said that along with co-curricular, constructive extra-curricular activities were equally important, which helped in the mental development of youth.
"In today’s world where it is common for students to watch videos on their mobile phones and waste time, promoting sports activities could make them a useful citizen of the society.
At the closing ceremony, shields were also given to the successful students in badminton and cricket matches. (04)
