SHANGHAI: 08.10.2025: Novak Djokovic battled a leg injury and extreme heat to defeat Jaume Munar 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 and advance to the Shanghai Masters quarterfinals.
The 38-year-old Serbian took a medical timeout in the first set and required multiple checkups due to 30°C temperatures and high humidity. Despite the conditions, Djokovic powered through the deciding set with two crucial breaks.
Earlier in the tournament, he vomited mid-match and called the conditions “brutal.” Djokovic, a 24-time Grand Slam champion, continued to push through adversity in his return to the ATP circuit.
