Islamabad: 1 June 2023: Ishaq Dar, the finance minister, stated on Friday that the price of petrol will remain at Rs262 per litre for the upcoming two weeks while the price of diesel would increase by Rs7.5 per litre.

The finance minister was speaking at a press conference today, but he omitted to say whether he meant high-speed diesel or light diesel oil. Additionally, he omitted to mention whether the price of paraffin had changed.

Dar gave an explanation for the price hike, stating that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) had noted a $3.5 increase in diesel prices in the recent few days on the international markets, with a similar upward trend for petrol prices.
