PTI can retain Bat sign

Islamabad: 23 Dec 2023: For the general election scheduled for February 8, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) ruled on Friday not to allow the PTI to continue using its "bat" electoral emblem.
A day after the Peshawar High Court (PHC) ordered the electoral watchdog to make a decision about the PTI's intra-party polls and electoral symbol by today in "accordance with the law," the reserved verdict was made public.

This happened just hours after the PTI met with the commission in response to the Supreme Court's directive that the ECP address the party's grievances over unfair treatment in the lead-up to the elections. The PTI claims that the ECP promised its delegation that its complaints will be taken care of.

Establishing a new standard, the ECP had seen the PTI's intra-party in which Barrister Gohar Ali Khan was easily elected as the party’s new chairman. The polls were held on December 3, days after the ECP declared as null and void the intra-party polls held in June 2022, giving the PTI 20 days to hold fresh elections or be ready to become ineligible for the poll symbol.
