MANCHESTER: 03.10.2025: A car and knife attack outside a crowded synagogue in Manchester during Yom Kippur left two people dead and three seriously injured. The suspected attacker was shot dead by armed police at the scene, prompting a terrorism-related response.

The incident occurred at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue, as worshippers observed the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. The police responded swiftly, citing reports of a car ramming and a stabbing. Bomb disposal teams were called due to "suspicious items" on the suspect.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the "horrific" attack, left a summit early, and chaired an emergency meeting. Security has been tightened at synagogues nationwide.

King Charles and Queen Camilla expressed deep sorrow, while Israel’s UK embassy called the violence “abhorrent.” The motive remains under investigation.
